ECCEL3723 Infants and toddlers professional experience
This unit supports the 15-day professional experience placement for Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) students, working with children under three years of age. Pre-Service Teachers (PSTs) are introduced to both individual and collective understandings of the education profession, with learning framed around developing the practices and knowledge required to become active, engaged early childhood teachers. PSTs will explore verbal and non-verbal communication strategies to support young children's learning and engagement, as well as effective approaches to working with the professional learning community and parents/carers. Drawing on relevant legislative frameworks and policies, PSTs will examine their ethical responsibilities to young children and identify strategies that promote their wellbeing and safety within early childhood settings. Throughout the placement, PSTs are required to complete designated professional learning activities in collaboration with their assigned mentors.
Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) unit fee
A Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) is one that is subsidised by the Australian Government, which means students only pay the student contribution amount of the tuition fee. CSPs are only available to eligible domestic students.
The student contribution amount depends on the unit and how much funding the Government provides. Each unit is classified into a band based on its discipline (which may be different to your overall course discipline).
2026 student contribution amount: $592
2026 grandfathered student contribution amount (for students who commenced before 1 Jan 2021*): $592
* If you are a continuing student (who commenced your course before 1 January 2021) you will continue paying the same amount as you would have, had legislative reforms not been implemented for any units that would otherwise have an increased student contribution amount.
