EXSCI2008 Applied Biomechanics
This unit enables students to apply foundational biomechanical principles to optimise human movement technique, assess performance, and mitigate injury risk across sporting, clinical, and occupational settings. Students utilise qualitative observations alongside quantitative laboratory and field-based technologies¿including force platforms, motion capture systems, electromyography, linear position transducers, and inertial sensors¿to calculate, model, and interpret kinetic and kinematic variables. Through hands-on data processing, peer-reviewed literature evaluation, interactive software applications, and emerging tools such as artificial intelligence, students learn to translate complex biomechanical data into actionable, evidence-based recommendations.
Commonwealth supported place (CSP)
A CSP is subsidised by the Australian Government and students pay a contribution amount. Each unit is classified into a band, depending on the study area of the unit (this discipline may be different from the study area of your course).
