EXSCI2171 Exercise Physiology
This unit develops students¿ understanding of exercise physiology and its application to exercise testing and prescription for health and performance. Students will examine the acute and chronic physiological and metabolic adaptations to aerobic, anaerobic, and resistance training and will develop skills in conducting appropriate physiological assessments and interpreting testing data. Students will examine important factors influencing exercise responses, including age, sex, ambient environment, nutrition, and ergogenic supplements, and apply this knowledge to ensure safe, evidence-based exercise testing and prescription. The unit also emphasises critical evaluation of contemporary sports science literature, including nutritional and ergogenic strategies, to support evidence-based recommendations for athletes and general populations.
