SCCOR1200 Scientific Communication

Scientific Communication provides students with opportunities to develop essential communication skills through a range of carefully scaffolded, authentic science communication tasks. Throughout the unit, students will build confidence in both written and oral communication while learning to communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences. Students will develop skills in scientific writing, data interpretation, information literacy, academic integrity, and evidence-based communication. On successful completion of the unit, students will be able to locate, evaluate and use credible scientific information; apply scientific reporting, grammatical and referencing conventions; interpret and communicate experimental data; prepare and deliver written and oral scientific communications; construct accurate reference lists and bibliographies; and recognise and avoid plagiarism. Attendance may be required to complete assessment tasks and learning activities.

Commonwealth supported place (CSP)

A CSP is subsidised by the Australian Government and students pay a contribution amount. Each unit is classified into a band, depending on the study area of the unit (this discipline may be different from the study area of your course).

Domestic full fee–paying places

A domestic full fee–paying place is one that isn’t subsidised by the Australian Government. These places are offered to postgraduate students or those who are ineligible for a CSP.
