Referencing is a formal system used to identify and acknowledge the words or ideas of other people in your work.

Each referencing style has different formatting rules. Some use numbers and footnotes, others use author names, page numbers and dates. FedCite has guides with templates and examples for all the approved styles at Federation University.

APA 7 style is an in-text citation style using the author's last name and date.

Chicago Note 18 is a footnotes style (also known as 'Chicago A') using numbered footnotes in the text and an alphabetical bibliography.
